Anyone who’s been to Ruta Maya can attest to the community atmosphere, which was never more present than last Thursday night. We’d like to thank Killa Dilla and Armadillo Road for opening up the show. And of course, we also appreciate all of our friends and fans (both old and new) who turned out on a rainy Thursday night to see some great music. There’s a lot more music on the way, so keep checking back for details on future gigs.

What a great event and evening we had last Thursday night (Thanksgiving). The potluck dinner was incredibly generous and fed the masses for free. Big crowd for a holiday night. Thanks for everyone who came out for us, and supported us on our first official gig in Austin in over four years! We were both surprised and grateful for your support. We’re ready to roll things out in the new year so stay tuned for more live dates very soon!

Well, the cat’s out of the bag as they say. Austin Volunteer Orchestra (AVO) planned on meeting you in 2010. But demand has been so strong – and our rehearsals going so well – that we’ve decided to make a place at our Thanksgiving table for you! On Thursday, November 26, 2009, catch AVO at Austin’s premiere coffee house and coffee importer Ruta Maya.
Music starts at 9 pm. But get there early, because there will be a Potluck Dinner from 7-9pm. Feel free to bring your own tasty vittles for others and share in the generosity of your fellow Austinites!
Ruta Maya is easy to find — its located at 3601 South Congress Avenue, in Austin.
Directions From IH-35: Take the Oltorf Street Exit. Go west on Oltorf Street for approximately three quarters of a mile (.8 miles). Take a left on South Congress Avenue at the intersection of Oltorf Street and South Congress Avenue. Proceed a little less than a mile (.9 miles) and take a left on Alpine Road (adjacent to Expose Gentleman’s Club). Go up the hill and Ruta Maya International Headquarters will be on the left.
